1. Material Testing Lab
The Material Testing Lab is set up with an objective of learning the ability to function on multidisciplinary teams in the area of materials testing. The lab is well equipped with some of the major instruments like universal testing machine having 100 Tonne capacity, impact testing machine, hardness testing machine, tile testing machine, torsion testing machine etc.
2.Surveying Practice laboratory
This course will help the students to know the basic principles of engineering surveying and measurements. This follows the effectively field procedures required for a professional surveyor. Use of techniques, skills and conventional surveying instruments necessary for engineering practice, this lab is well established with high end surveying instruments like, Total station, Theodolite, Auto level, along with necessary accessories.
3. FLUID MECHANICS AND HYDRAULIC MACHINERY LAB
Fluid mechanics lab will enable the students to calibrate flow measuring devices, determine the force exerted by jet of water on vanes, measure discharge and head losses in pipes and understand the fluid pattern. It is a well-furnished laboratory with all the hydraulic machines like, turbines (Kaplan, Francis) Pelton wheel, Jet through vanes, weirs, notches, pumps from which students can understand the flow characteristics of a fluid and discharge properties.
4. ENGINEERING GEOLOGY LABORATORY
This course will enable students to identify the minerals and rocks based on their inherent properties. It also enhances the knowledge about its uses in civil engineering and also educates the students in the interpretation of the geological maps related to civil engineering projects. Students will learn the concepts on dip and strike, thickness of geological formation related to foundation, tunnels, reservoirs and mining. Students will understand subsurface geological conditions through a geophysical techniques and watershed management. Around 400 rock and mineral specimens are there in this lab.
5. CONCRETE AND HIGHWAY MATERIAL TESTING LAB
The objective of concrete laboratory is to determine the physical properties of building construction materials like cement, fine and coarse aggregate. Students can design the mix, preapare the specimens and test the same for their respective strengths. The objective of highway materials laboratory is to determine some of the properties of coarse aggregates and bitumen. The lab is well equipped with all the aggregate and bitumen testing machines like, aggregate impact testing machine, Los angles & Devel abrasion testing machine, ductility machine, softening points etc. Laboratory consists of Compression testing machine with 200 Tonne capacity, Workability Measurement equipment's, ultra sonic pulse velocity, Rebound Hammer, testing machine etc.
6. GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING LAB
The purpose of the laboratory is to study the various types of tests used for soil testing. Each experiment of soil testing is presented with brief introduction covering the important details of the experiment, the theory and the applications of the same. With the help of these Students can perform and analyze the properties and strength of the soil by using testing machines like direct shear testing machine, consolidation, unconfined, triaxial testing machine, Compaction and relative density.
7.COMPUTER AIDED BUILDING PLANNING AND DRAWING
This course will provide students with a basic understanding to achieve skill sets to prepare computer aided engineering drawings, Understand the details of construction of different building elements, Visualize the completed form of the building and the intricacies of construction based on the engineering drawings. The lab is well equipped with 70 high end computer systems with LCD projectors. The students are trained by expertise faculties on AUTO CAAD software.
