LABORATORY DETAILS

1. Material testing laboratory: Materials testing is a highly precise and reliable set of processes that measure material characteristics, such as properties, structure and composition, against specified criteria. The Material Testing Lab is concerned with the determination of the mechanical properties of the steel materials, such as Tensile Strength, Compressive Strength, Young’s Modulus, shear strength Toughness, Hardness measurement. Materials testing and characterization is carried out to understand the fundamental properties of a material when subjected to service and environmental loading and operating conditions. Testing helps us to understand and quantify whether a specific material is suitable to a particular application.

  • Universal Testing (100T), Hardness testing machine, Impact testing machine, tile testing machine, oven, torsion testing machine.

2. Surveying practice laboratory: Surveying Laboratory provides students with hands-on experience in fundamental land surveying measurement methods for surveying courses. Students learn techniques for gathering field data with both traditional and modern instruments. This equipment includes total station instruments for obtaining angle and distance measurements, automatic engineering level for elevation measurements, traditional transits theodolites, tape measures, prismatic and surveyor compass, digital planimeter, chaining pins, and other common surveying tools. The lab serves as office space for the surveying instructor and teaching assistants, so surveying students have direct access to help for material discussed in lecture and lab.

  • Major instruments: Total station, Theodolite, Dumpy/Auto Level, digital planimeter

3. Fluid Mechanics and hydraulic machinery lab: This laboratory is equipped with the modern equipment’s used for training students & to carry out many project works. The objective of the laboratory is to educate the students with the components & working principles of the Hydraulic machines, different types of turbines, pumps & other miscellaneous Hydraulic machines. The laboratory facilitates Centrifugal pump, Pelton wheel, Francis turbine, Kaplan turbine, Impact jet apparatus & other flow measuring devices.

4. Geotechnical Engineering Laboratory: This course will show how to conduct the various types of tests used for soil testing. Each experiment of soil testing is presented with brief introduction covering the important details of the experiment, the theory and the purpose for which it is to be performed, followed by the detailed explanation of apparatus required, procedure and specimen calculations. These should enable students to perform the experiment and compute the results of experiments very easily.

5. Concrete and Highway Materials Laboratory: The Concrete & Highway Material Testing Lab will show how to conduct different tests on building materials like cement, fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, cement concrete, bricks, tiles (Roofing & Paving), concrete blocks, bitumen etc. The lab is used for the regular academic works and consultancy work. Consultancy service is provided in the area of testing cement; fine aggregate, coarse aggregate, Mix design, highway materials, bricks, tiles, paving blocks & other building materials.

6. Environmental Engineering Laboratory: This laboratory will help the students to test water and waste water samples for physical and chemical parameters.
