Webinar on Deep Learning for Smart City Applications

In recent trends Deep learning and AI is acquiring its significance in various sectors. Deep learning AI is able to learn without human supervision, drawing from data that is both unstructured and unlabeled. To understand better how this Deep learning is applied in creating smart cities, department of ISE organized a Webinar on \"Deep Learning for Smart City Applications\" on 25th July 2020 from 11:00 AM to 01:00 PM in Online Resource person for the webinar was Mr. Sandeep Kumar Erudiyanathan, Senior Engineer, Department of Engineering Technology & Mentoring, Robert Bosch Engineering Solutions (RBEI), and Bengaluru.

Around 120 Participants have attended the live session. Mr. Gurudev S H introduced resource person & welcomed the Participant, Dr. Nagesh H R, HOD-IS&E delivered the vote of thanks. E-certificates were distributed to all the participants. Mr. Gurudeva S Hiremath was the convener of this Webinar.

Department of Information Science and Engineering, AJIET in association with BITES Bengaluru has organized a webinar on "Deep Learning for Satellite Imagery" for the faculty, students and research scholars of various disciplines on 06/08/2020 from 10AM to 11:30 AM trough online Mode.

Resource person Dr. Sanjay R Chitnis, Chairman, Dept of Computer Science and Engineering, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru gave an introduction to the Satellite Imagery with its challenges and applications. Further he gave an insight to different types of deep learning networks viz Feed forward networks, Convolution Neural Networks, U-NET, Generative Adversarial Network and custom architectures. He also provided information on datasets for the satellite imagery and code sources.

5-Day Faculty Development Programme on Machine Learning Using Python Programming

5-Day Faculty Development Programme on Machine Learning Using Python Programming was organized from 01.06.2021 to 05.06.2021 by Department of Information Science and Engineering in Association with Departments of Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. More than 400 participants have registered and attended the FDP through on-line google meet app and YouTube streaming from various institutes of our country.

First day started at 9.55AM with an inaugural programme in which the college principal Dr Shantharama Rai C addressed the participants, the programme convenor and Head of the Dept of ISE, Dr. Nagesh H.R welcomed the participants and introduced the Resource person of the day Dr.Veena T, Associate Professor, Dept. of CSE, NIT, Goa. She presented the topic Introduction to Machine Learning and Feature Optimization in which she focused on different types of Machine Learning and addressed some of the Real- World problems like Handwritten Recognition.

Inauguration of IoT and Developer's Community Club

The IoT and Developer's Community Club was inaugurated on 8th July 2021 by Mr. Chaithanya Sharma, Business Intelligence Developer, Mindtree Limited, A subsidiary of L&T Group, Bengaluru.

The Inaugural Session started with, the welcoming of the resource person, the participants, other dignitaries and introduction of the resource person by Mr. Suraj J, 2nd year CSE. Mr. Pradeep Kumar KG, coordinator of IoT and Developer's Community Club, introduced the club and the chief guest.

Technical talk on \"Recent trends and job opportunities in Big Data Analytics\"

The Department of ISE conducted inauguration ceremony of HIEKA, the student association on 17th July 2021 at 11:00AM in virtual mode using google meet. The Master of Ceremony, Sherene Maben gave short introduction about Department, Vision and Mission of the Department. To bestow god\'s blessing on us to have a successful event we started the inaugural with a prayer song, which was sung by Ms. Shraddha H S.

The formal function began with welcoming all the dignitaries including Dr. A J Shetty, President of Laxmi Memorial Education Trust, Mr. Prashanth Shetty, and Vice President of Laxmi Memorial Education Trust. The Resource person for the formal function was Mr. Akshath Hegde, along with him, Principal Dr. Shantharama Rai C, HOD of ISE Dr. Nagesh H R, staff coordinators Mrs. Aruna Kumari G K, Dr Govindaraj P, and newly elected office barriers of HIEKA Ms. Deepthi Vibha (President), Mr. Rakshith Ujwal (Vice president), association members, staff members and students of our department were present for the function.

Technical talk on "PLACEMENT AND TRAINING"

Prof. VIVEK RANJAN , PLACEMENT HEAD,AJIET, has delivered a talk on 'Placement and training' to the students of Information Science & Engineering department. This event was organized for the second-year and third-year students of ISE branch.

Ms. Sherene Maben, Student of Vth sem Information Science & Engineering was the Master of Ceremony for the function. Mr. Ram Krishna, Vth sem Information Science & Engineering gave the welcome speech.

Technical - Quiz

The questions of quiz were based on different technical topics and Programming Languages such as C, C++ & Java etc. A Technical-Quiz competition was conducted in 3 elimination rounds. Ms. Sherene from third year ISE hosted the Programme. All the 3rd & 4th year students of IS&E department were participated in the Technical-Quiz competition. Sudish , Rohith and Harshith from final year ISE got the first place and Devakrishna ,Yathish, Prathvin from third year ISE got the second place of Technical-Quiz competition.

Report on Aayudha Pooja Celebration held on 14/10/2021

A grand celebration of Aayudha Pooja was held on 14-10-2021 in the ADE laboratory at 11.30AM in the presence of Principal Dr.Shantharama Rai C, Vice Principal and HOD of ISE Department Dr. Nagesh H R and HOD's of various Departments along with Faculties and students.

Aayudha Pooja rituals were carried out by the Archak in presence of a large number of devotees along with the Bhajana program from the students of ISE. The arrangements for the program were actively done by the Students of ISE Departments with the guidance of HOD and faculties.

All the labs were Beautifully decorated along with the rangoli of flowers as a sign of celebration. After the rituals prasadam were distributed to the devotees.

Technical talk on "Cyber Security-Trends, Challenges and Solutions "

Dr. Nagesh H R ,Vice Principal ,Professor and Head, Dept. of ISE, AJIET , MANGALURU, has delivered a Technical talk on "Cyber Security-Trends, Challenges and Solutions " to the students of Information Science & Engineering department. This event was organized for the second-year, third-year students and final year students of ISE branch.

EXTENSIVE SURVEY CAMP 2021-22

A J Institute of Engineering & Technology conducted their 4 th Survey Camp for B.E 3rd year students of Civil Engineering successfully from 31st March 2022 to 7 th April 2022 at Durga village, Karkala taluk.

This camp was aimed to groom civil engineering students with essential knowledge and exposure to the real work, and to encourage leadership and teamwork skills. This survey camp resulted in encouraging and supporting students, emerging as leaders in several areas of academic provision.

FAREWELL-2021

Department of Civil Engineering AJIET had organized farewell party for 2017-2021 batch students on 30- 4-2022 at B block Room Number 313. During this moment the 1st batch student Ms. Ashika Pai has been falicitaed for securing 2nd Rank in VTU. Final year and pre final year students had taken Incharge of conducting program and the event had run smoothly with 107 student participation. All the aluminis were greeted with the token of love from Team Resilience during the occasion and Hod had addressed the gathering. The program was followed by cultural program and fun games. 

TWO DAYS WORKSHOP ON 3DS MAX

Department of Civil Engineering, in association with student association TEAM RESILIENCE had organized two days workshop on 3DS MAX for final year students on 21st and 22nd May 2022 at A block 3rd floor CAAD Lab.Er. Wiltan Arul Fernandes and Ms. Dhanyashree, Design Engineers from Dream zone Mangalore took over the session.

The primary objective of this course is to teach students the essentials of working in 3D using an array of features and tools. This course teaches new users the basics of creating, embellishing, and animating 3D scenes. After completing this course, student should be able to: Model objects using a variety of techniques, Design and apply materials, Adjust basic lighting, Animate simple objects, Build and animate simple, effective environments

In total 27 students had actively participated in the event. The feedback was taken at the end of the session.

IMPORTANCE OF GATE AND ITS CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Department of Civil Engineering, in association with student association TEAM RESILIENCE had organized technical talk on Importance of Gate and its Career Opportunities for all Civil Engineering students of AJIET at B block, Room No.307

The speaker Mr. Akahay Naik has explained, What are the opportunities through the GATE exam, Will it be useful to just clear GATE, What material must we follow, Will GATE preparation help me in campus selection, How many months of preparation is needed?

In total 72 students had actively participated in the event. The feedback was taken at the end of the session.

FAREWELL-2022-ADIOS

Department of Civil Engineering AJIET had organized farewell party for 2018-2022 batch students on 15- 7-2022 at A Block seminar hall 1. Mr. Dhanwin of second year Civil Engineering took over the event and all the outgoing students were awarded a memento as token of remembrance. During this moment the toppers Ms. Ananya Kudyadi and Ms. Deeksha were honored for their exemplary performance in the academics and Mr. Shashank for representing VTU inter collegiate Athletics. Third year and second year students had taken Incharge of conducting program and the event had run smoothly with 93 student participation. Hod had addressed the gathering and conveyed good wishes for their future endeavors. The program was followed by cultural program and fun games.

Three Days Workshop on Rivet Architecture

The department of Civil Engineering in association with Department association TEAM RESILIANCE had conducted Workshop on" RIVET ARCHITECTURE" for Second year Civil Engineering Students on 11th , 12th , 13th of August 2022 at A. J Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mangaluru. Workshop started at 9.30 a.m. in CAD Lab, 1st floor B-Block. The main objective of this training is to describe building information modeling methodology and its benefit, Use of different parts of the Revit Architecture, user interface and work with different types of architectural elements and families. Revit Architecture is able to leverage dynamic information in intelligent models allowing complex building structures to be accurately designed and documented in a short amount of time.

TECHNO WEEK 2022

About the Program: Department of civil Engineering in association with Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (INDIA) and The Ramco Cement Limited and ISTE had conducted TECHNO WEEK-2022- TECHNICAL TALK ON CORROSION OF REINFORCED CONCRETE. The session was lively and the speaker had explained neatly about Corrosion that occurs when the protective layer in concrete steel reinforcement is destroyed. Steel in concrete is usually protected against corrosion by the high pH of the surrounding portland-cement paste.

Er. Suraj, Er. Ajith, Er. Subramanya from ACCE and Ramco cement Limited were the part of the event. Dr. Suman K, HOD department of Civil Engineering had addressed the gathering and motivated students through her words. In total 65 participants took part in the event and the event was grand success.

REPORT ON "AJIET- SYMPOSIUM-2022"

Department of civil Engineering in association with RUSSIAN State Hydrometeorological University has organised an online event on 30-9-2022 at 12:30 PM, 1st AJIET-SYMPOSIUM-2022( Knowledge Exchange Event) in association with AJIET Students Chapter Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE) and Institute of Engineers India (IEI) through google meet platform (https://bit.ly/3sekr16).

Symposiums enhance the technical knowledge of students and provide them a platform to exhibit their talents. It help students to identify and understand the various aspects of their domain which provides opportunities for them to develop their versatility and charisma in the divergent facet of their growth. In total 10 resourse persons presented their research papers and 30 participants took part in the event.

Report on Food Fest

The food fest has been conducted on 21/01/23 Saturday 12pm for 3rd semester students in association with the EVSA. It has been conducted to know various food lore in the city and the ingredient used in that food. It will improve the consciousness of the student regarding the importance of the food, food wastage and the effort behind the cooking of the food. Dr Gnaneswar Nadh Satapathi with all faculty inaugurated the function at 12.pm

Report on "Industrial visit to JV Springs Baikampady, Mangaluru"

18 Students of 5 th Semester along with 2 faculty members visited JV Springs Baikampady, Mangaluru on 23-01-2023 at 2.00 PM. JV Springs, Brahmas Engineering and Construction Company Ltd. deals with Manufacturing and sale of Automobile leaf springs and assembling. It was very informative and useful for the students to get more exposure about entrepreneurship skills.

Report on "Industrial visit to Deccan Plast Industries, Konaje"

18 Students of 5th Semester along with 2 faculty members visited Deccan Plast Industries, Konaje on 23-01-2023 at 11.00 AM. Deccan Plast Industries has an advanced "state of the art" factory in Mangaluru, constructed in the standards matching any MNC factory having latest injection moulding machines and moulds and other equipment, is powered by latest technology complemented by in-house R & D and product development. It was very informative and useful for the students to get more exposure about injection moulding. 

Report on "Workshop on Air-conditioning &Refrigeration"

Department of Mechanical Engineering has organized workshop on Air-conditioning and Refrigeration for 2nd year Mechanical Engineering students on 17-02-2023 at 2 pm in Machine shop Laboratory.

 The speaker Mr.Sachin Karkera AC Maintenance Engineers' Services Car street Mangalore spoke about working of basic refrigerator and air conditioner. He dismantled refrigerator and shown each parts of it and explained the functions. He also explained the refrigeration cycle with heat absorption and heat exhaust in same device. Students were able to understand the basic differences with working of air conditioner and refrigerator. He dismantled air conditioner and shown parts like condenser and evaporator and significances of it in the completion of cooling cycle

Report on "Basics of Arduino Programming"

The Aim of the event was to teach the Basics of Arduino Programming for the first- and Second-year Engineering Students.

In the first session of the workshop, the basics of Microcontroller, Different Types of Arduino available and different application of it was explained. Workshop Mainly Focused on usage of Arduino UNO. Students were able to identify different pins in the Arduino UNO and usage of each Pins.

Second and Third Sessions were focused on hands-on Sessions. Initially Participants were asked to write a program to blink a LED, followed by series of LED. In the third Session Interfacing of Different was taught and students were able to Interface Temperature, Moisture, Gas, Rain Detector etc Successfully.

Visited to ATL School, SDPT PU COLLEGE KATEEL in regards with preparation of activity plan for conduction of workshop in ATL school. During the visit interacted with Principal, Vice Principal and ATL coordinator of the school. In consultation with ATL coordinator prepared the list of activities to be conducted for workshop.

The Institute Innovation Council (IIC quarter-3) organized a talk on 06- 04-2023 about "Intellectual Property Rights and IP management for startup" from 9:00am-4:00pm.

The Farewell Programme for the 2019-2023 batch was organized by the department of Electronics & Communication Engineering in association with Electrovertz Student Association on 29th May 2023 from 9:30AM onwards.

The event was conducted in presence of, Mr. Manjukiran B, Student Co-Ordinator, and Dr. Kiran Kumar, Associate Professor, with the faculty advisor of the student Association Prof. Prakash K Shetty & Mrs. Deepashree A P along with teaching and non-Teaching Faculty as well as students and graduates. Principal Dr. Shantharama Rai also addressed the students and wished them towards their successful future. 

Intra Institutional Innovation Competition and Reward Best Innovations

The Department of Information Science and Engineering in coordination with the IIC cell - YUKTI NIR and R&D cell of AJIET organized an Intra Institutional Innovation Competition and Reward Best Innovations on 26/06/2023 to encourage teamwork, collaboration, and innovation among the students, making the event a memorable and rewarding experience for everyone involved. Project was evaluated by a Panel of Internal Judge (Mr. Prabhakara B .K, Mr. John Prakash Veigas, Mrs. Sharanya P.S) and one External judge Dr. Pavitra Shanbhag, Asst. Professor & HOD of Mathematics. All the posters prepared by the students were exhibited with their Project Models. All the posters prepared by the students were exhibited with an IIC logo and Submission ID in their posters. Participants were suggested to consider the current trends to improvise their works. Judges stressed upon the need to take initiative and to have the courage for unique and forward steps to become an entrepreneur. Judges also appreciated the innovativeness of the projects developed and the need to convert into prototype models.

AJIET Spectacle 23

The Technical Committee of AJIET organized an AJIET SPECTACLE 23 to exhibit and evaluate the project works of all the departments. Mr Dr.Sukhwinder Sharma was the external Judges for evaluating the ISE related project works. He interacted with each and every team and evaluated individual projects. Also, the Internal judge was Mrs Sahaya R Shamini,Assistant Professor ,Department of ISE, evaluated the work. All the Poster prepared by the students were exhibited with their Project Models.

The Department Activity was organized by the department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, ElectroVertz Student Association in association with IEI student chapter on 24th June ,2023 from11:00 AM onwards.

The talk on "The AI Revolution: Driving Evolution Empowering change" was regarding the artificial intelligence in real world application. Dr. Harivinod N, Associate Professor and Head of Research Centre, Department of Computer Science, St. Joseph Engineering college Mangalore was the resource person for the talk.

Arduino is a fantastic platform to unleash your creativity and learn about electronics and programming. With its user-friendly interface and vast community support, Arduino opens up a realm of possibilities for bringing your ideas to life. But with Arduino application projects, it can be difficult to know where to start. Hence to train mechanical engineering students workshop on arduino based projects organised by mechanical engineering department in association with ARMS. The resource person for this workshop, Mr.Ajay Prinston Pinto, Director of IQmetric solutions Private Limited,explained with demonstration various tools and techniques to start programming and testing.

Workshop was inaugurated by principal .Dr.Shantarama Rai C along with HOD Dr.Rajesh Rai, resource person Mr.Ajay Prinston Pinto, and association coordinator Mr.Prashantha D A.

The Department of CSE in association with Indian Society of Technical Education (ISTE) and Techbyheart, organized a workshop on "Cybersecurity and Ethical Hacking" .The event was scheduled on 22-07-2023 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at GD Room, 3rd floor.

The workshop started with a prayer song by 1st year CSE students, The program was inaugurated by Dr.Shantharama Rai C, principal and Dr. Antony P J, Vice-Principal. The various heads of the department and all the faculties of CSE attended the inaugural function. The ISTE Coordinator Mrs. Deeksha Anand welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person. The Principal addressed the gathering and motivated students to participate in workshop and upgrade themselves in current technologies. Dr. Antony P J, Vice principal made the students aware of the current threats to cyber security and the need of securing the data. Mrs. Sharon Dsouza delivered vote of thanks. Report on Workshop on "Basics of Electronics"

The Aim of the event was to teach the Basics of Electronics for high School Students of Government High school, Koyla.

In the first session of the workshop, the basics of Electronics, Electrical tools essential to build electronic circuits, safety measures to be followed, symbols used to illustrate electronic components, Introduction to breadboard, types of circuits, working of a switch was explained.

Workshop Mainly Focused on rigging of circuits using LED, Resistors, switch, Battery using breadboard. Participants were able to identify different values of resistors by understanding the colour codes of the resistors.

The technical talk was held with a lot of fervour and determination on October 30, 2023, at 11:00 AM in seminar hall-1 at the A J Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mangalore. To introduce the concept of AI+Data+CRM was the goal of the talk.

The master of ceremonies for the event was Prakruthi Shetty, a final-year student in the department of computer science and engineering (CSE). On May 5 and 6 2024, A J Institute of Engineering & Technology, Mangaluru, organized its intercollegiate Techno-Cultural fest AJIET AAKAR-2024 with the tagline Your Stage Your story at AJIET Campus. The AJIET AAKAR-2024 is a splendid platform to show off students technical as well as cultural talents; an opportunity to acquire feedback from professional entertainers; and an enthusiastic audience to watch and encourage the talents. The event witnessed both cultural and technical events on these days.

On May 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM, the A J Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mangalore, hosted the Enigma Day with great passion and dedication. The program's goal was to assist students in becoming more self-aware as well as responsible people.

Prakruthi Shetty, final year student of computer science and engineering (CSE) department, served as the event's master of ceremonies. Athreya, a final-year Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) student, opened the gathering with a prayer.. For the faculty, students had planned a few entertaining games. Final year students gave mementos to all faculty members as a token of gratitude.Dr. Anthony P.J the HOD addressed the gathering. Prajna, a final-year student, offered the vote of thanks.

The program was inaugurated by Dr.Shantharama Rai C, principal and Dr. Antony P J, Vice- Principal and IoT Club & CSI Chairman. The various heads of the department and all the faculties of CSE attended the inaugural function.

The vice-principal welcomed the gathering and introduced the resource person. The Principal address the gathering and motivated students to participate in workshop and upgrade themselves in current technologies.Mrs. Snitha Shetty delivered vote of thanks. Ms. Nagavarshini, 2nd year CSE was the master of the ceremony.
